Born in Lagos to a Kenyan mother and Nigerian father, OLUGBENGA now lives by the sea in Brighton (UK) with his wife and two young children. He grew up between Nigeria and the Netherlands, before moving to the UK where he finished school in South London and then studied English Literature at King's College, Cambridge.

OLUGBENGA has travelled the world as a bass player, vocalist and DJ, working mostly with Mercury Prize-nominated indie rock band Metronomy, but also on projects like Solange Knowles' US #1 album 'A Seat At The Table' and Damon Albarn's 'Africa Express'. He has also produced remixes for the likes of Laura Marling, Janelle Monae, Alt-J, Depeche Mode and the Scissor Sisters.

As a DJ, OLUGBENGA has played out at events and festivals across the UK and worldwide, performing in the USA, Australia, Japan, Russia, Italy, Norway, South Africa and more. His undoubted ability to work a crowd also caught the attention of the Boiler Room, Red Bull Music Academy, Dummy Mag, i-D Magazine, Okayafrica, Clashmusic, XLR8R, NTS, Rinse FM, Soho Radio, Glastonbury Festival and many more.

OLUGEBNGA has written about his experiences as an immigrant and a musician for publications like The Guardian, Clash Magazine and Okay Africa. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he and his brother (Gorillaz bassist Seye Adelekan) co-authored ‘OBALENDE SECTOR’ an Afro-Futurist sci-fi story that was printed and distributed throughout the UK as part of ‘Dr. Martens Presents’.

Metronomy are currently on hiatus after completing an album cycle, but OLUGBENGA has stayed busy, collaborating with bands and artists of all genres and never far away from a set of Pioneer CDJs.
